Before the COVID pandemic hit we were running face to face events in schools and youth centres across the UK. But as schools, colleges and universities closed we had to adapt our business model. Out of this necessity both the YRD short course platform and the DigiRise programme was born.
YRD got us talking to lots of young people. Statistics showed that 13 -24 year olds from disadvantaged backgrounds were the loneliest group in the UK. They are disengaged, will be lacking in digital skills and will be in high need of emotional and mental-health support post-pandemic. We decided to take action and Digirise was launched in October last year.
Digirise is a FREE programme delivering business skills to young people aged 16-24 a pathway to work programme or we assist the students with creating their own businesses.
Our workshop sessions include pitching, health & wellbeing, business & financial fundamentals, getting a job, revolutionary career experiences, mentorship programme and so much more.
In this EXCLUSIVE pilot we had some amazing brands like TikTok, TAKUMI, Facebook, Google, Sage accounting etc taking part with sessions. All our mentors, speakers (including June Sarpong CBE, Shaa Wasmund MBE, Kanya King CBE, Brenda Emmanus OBE and many more) and workshop facilitators are leading professionals and were really inspirational to the young people.
